WWE News & Rumors: Steve Austin Eyeing Return To Wrestling; John Cena Wants To Face ‘Stone Cold’ At Wrestlemania 31

Stone Cold Steve Austin is reportedly eyeing a comeback to WWE and superstar John Cena expressed interest in facing the wrestling legend, possibly at Wrestlemania 31.

Talks about Steve Austin's planned return started when "Stone Cold" said in a recent podcast that he is training to get back in shape for a possible comeback later this year or early next year.

And when asked about the possible return of Steve Austin to WWE, Cena said in a recent chat session that he wants to face Stone Cold at Wrestlemania 31, saying that it is one of his dream matches.

"I hope that his return to the ring is imminent. He has been training really hard and is in great shape," Cena said via The Rakyat Post.

WWE commentator Jim Ross, a close friend of the wrestling legend, said in a recent blog post on his official website that Austin has always been open to returning to the ring for a farewell match. Ross added, though, that the chance of seeing Austin again on top of the ring is slim at this point.

"While Steve always keeps an open mind on returning to the ring for one last match, that's not an immediate goal of his or even on the back burner," Ross wrote. "If many factors involved in that process were in place, I could theoretically see Steve doing it but the chance that all the stars aligning to his satisfaction are slim."

Ross also pointed out that Stone Cold, being 49 years old already, needs at least four months of intense training to make himself ready to headline a big event like Wrestlemania 31.

If WWE wants to have Austin in big event, Ross said that the best option is to do it at Wrestlemania 32 because it will be held in Dallas in Stone Cold's home state, Texas.

"If I were WWE, I'd more likely look at WM32 in Dallas and begin discussing that sooner than later for the Texas Rattlesnake. That's merely my personal opinion but selling 100,000 tickets in his home state might interest Steve the most if the money, the opponent and the creative were all on point," Ross wrote.
