NBA Schedule and Highlights – Los Angeles Lakers vs Utah Jazz Box Score: Kobe Bryant Scores 27 in Blowout Loss

Several hours after being ranked 40th on ESPN Rankings, Kobe Bryant wanted to prove his doubters wrong and he managed to do so as he scored 27 points on Thursday night.

However, Bryant's high-scoring performance was not enough as the Lakers took a 119-86 loss against the Utah Jazz on Thursday at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

The Lakers were within five points after the first period, but the Jazz waxed hot in the second period, outscoring Los Angeles by 16 to take a commanding 56-35 lead at the half. The Jazz never looked back from then on en route to the 33-point blowout victory.

Gordon Hayward led the Jazz with 16 points to go along with four assists and four steals, while Derrick Favors added 15 points and five rebounds to go along with two blocks in 22 minutes of playing time.

Rookie guard Dante Exum also had a productive night for the Jazz as he finished with 13 points and six assists, while starting center Enes Kanter ended up with eight points and 11 rebounds for the Jazz, who shot 51.2 percent from the field as a team.

With the win, the Jazz remained perfect this preseason, scoring their fourth win in as many games. They scored a 92-73 and 109-105 win against the Portland Trail Blazers in their back-to-back games, which was followed by a 102-89 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday.

On the other hand, the Lakers, who got 12 points and 14 rebounds from Jordan Hill, dropped to 1-3 this preseason with their only victory coming against the Denver Nuggets, 98-95, in their opener.

Jeremy Lin and Steve Nash, the Lakers' top two point guards, missed the game on Thursday due to injuries. Lin is still recovering from a sprained ankle, while Nash reportedly hurt his back carrying bags on Wednesday.
