NFL News & Rumors: Brett Favre Believes Austin Davis Could Be The Next Tom Brady, Kurt Warmer

National Football League legend Brett Favre was awed by Austin Davis during the St. Louis Rams' 28-26 victory against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at the Edward Jones Dome.

Davis, who started in place of Sam Bradford after the starting quarterback sustained a torn ACL, completed 17-of-20 passes for 155 yards with two touchdowns against the Seahawks.

After watching Davis' performance against the defending Super Bowl champion, Favre said that the 25-year-old quarterback has the tools to become the next Tom Brady or Kurt Warmer if given the opportunity to shine.

"Austin can definitely play at this level," Favre said via ESPN. "Not to sound off my rocker, but [Davis] - in my mind - can be the next Tom Brady or Kurt Warner. Brian Hoyer as well. Austin, like those mentioned, just needed a legit opportunity."

Davis completed 13-of-14 passes during the first three periods of the match before making the biggest play of the game in the final period, leading an 80-yard drive that sealed the Rams' victory after the Seahawks managed to pull within two points.

When asked about Favre's comments on his game, Davis played down the comparison, saying that he is just working hard to help his team win and prove his worth, not to become the "next anybody."

"I don't really want to be the next anybody," Davis said. "I just want to be the first Austin Davis and just keep doing what we're doing and try to go on a winning streak here. It felt good to get one this past week; I think it was much needed for our football team. We're just going to try to keep it going."

Davis expressed gratitude to Favre, though, while also adding that he had a chance to meet the legendary quarterback before the 2012 NFL Draft.

"I got a chance to throw with him and meet him," Davis said of Favre. "I couldn't quite throw it like he could, so I don't know if any of his pointers helped me."
