Fantasy Basketball Rankings: Who’s Hot and Who’s Not? Anthony Davis Shines, Jeremy Lin Shows Inconsistency

The new Fantasy Basketball season is heating up and we already had a glimpse on what to expect from several players, who made big impacts in the opening week of the 2014-15 NBA season.

Anthony Davis - New Orleans Pelicans

Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans was ranked second on NBA.com's Fantasy Big Board, but the third-year power forward is already showing that he could overtake LeBron James and Kevin Durant in the rankings.

In his first two games in Week 1, Davis averaged 28.5 points and 16.0 rebounds to go along with 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.5 assists per game.

The 21-year-old power forward dominated on opening night as he posted 26 points, 17 rebounds, nine blocks and three steals in their 101-84 win against the Orlando Magic. Things are just expected to get better moving forward as long as Davis could stay healthy for the rest of the season.

Klay Thompson - Golden State Warriors

Klay Thompson sizzled in the first week of the new Fantasy Basketball season as he averaged 29.7 points to go along with 3.0 assists and 2.7 rebounds in three games.

While most fantasy owners will look for more productions outside of points, Thompson proved that he could be lethal this season, making his owners feel good about their decision to pick him during the draft, considering the fact that he knocked down 10 three pointers and had five steals last week.

Derrick Favors - Utah Jazz

Derrick Favors of the Utah Jazz also had a great opening week as he averaged 21.7 points and 9.0 rebounds to go along with 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals per game. It is still unclear at this point whether or not the 23-year-old could sustain his impressive stat line for the rest of the season.

Jeremy Lin - Los Angeles Lakers

Jeremy Lin earned praises from Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant during their loss against the Los Angeles Clippers, but the 26-year-old point guard has been inconsistent in his first four games in a purple and gold uniform.

Lin racked up 17 on 53.8 percent shooting from the field to go along with nine assists and four rebounds against the Clippers, but he has been a disappointment in the other three games where he averaged just 6.3 points and 4.3 assists to go along with 3.7 turnovers - disappointing stat line for a starting point guard.

Fantasy owners should not panic yet, though, because Lin is expected to retain his spot on the starting lineup due to lack of competition after Steve Nash went down with back injury that would force him to miss the rest of the season.
