Apple Watch Release Date Set in Spring, iPod Pro Could Come Out Second Half of 2015

Apple has yet to announce an official release date for the highly anticipated watch, but a recently-leaked video suggested that the device will be released in the spring.

People have been waiting for the Apple Watch, the company's first wearable device. During the iPhone launch, the Cupertino-based company said that the device will come out in early 2015, leaving those who are waiting for the watch wondering when will be the actual release date.

But according to a document obtained by 9to5Mac, Apple's senior vice president of retail and online stores Angela Ahrendts reportedly revealed the new watch will be released in the spring.

"We're going into the holidays, we'll go into Chinese New Year, and then we've got a new watch launch coming in the spring," Ahrendts reportedly told their employees.

The Chinese New Year will begin February 19, which means that the initial release date predicted by most analysts might be wrong as most of them expected that the Apple Watch will be released on Valentine's Day. Spring season officially begins March 20, which means that consumers will have to wait longer than expected.

However, CNET doubts Apple will wait that long, knowing that there will be strong competition on the market after Microsoft also announced last week that they will soon release Microsoft Band to directly compete with other wearable devices.

"Apple announced the watch at its iPhone launch event on September 9, so the company certainly doesn't want to wait too long for the smartwatch to materialize," Lance Whitney of CNET wrote. "Also, the longer Apple waits, the more competition it faces."

But while there could be strong competition if Apple decides to delay the release, Karen Haslam of Macworld argued that moving the release date won't hurt the company because their device is expected to dominate the market.

"This isn't the first ever smartwatch and it doesn't really do anything other smart watches don't do, but what it does do, it does better than the competition thanks to Apple's user interface expertise," Haslam said. "Apple has paid an enormous amount of attention to every last detail of this watch and it shows."

Aside from their wearable device, Apple will also reportedly released a larger version of their iPad in the second half of 2015 as reported by Macotakara, which accurately predicted release dates of Apple products before.
