Curtis Wade Holley: Florida Man Who Ambushed And Killed Cop Identified

Curtis Wade Holley - Tallahassee Police have identified a man who ambushed and killed a police officer on Sunday. The suspect, Curtis Wade Holley, reportedly set fire to a home in order to ambush officials that responded to the blaze.

The ambush reportedly occurred in the middle of the street in the Plantation Woods neighborhood located in the northwest of Tallahassee. Curtis Wade Holley shot and killed 47 years old Leon County Sheriff's Deputy Christopher L. Smith before he was also killed. Another deputy was also fatally wounded in the incident.

Reports indicate that Curtis Wade Holley engaged cops in a 12-minute shoot out before being shot and killed by Officer Scott Angulo.

Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt James McQuiag said preliminary investigations into the ambush and shooting reveals that Curtis Wade Holley had anti government views and acted alone.

"We have information that we have received that this person was anti-government, was anti-establishment and had discussed at some point in time planning to harm law enforcement," McQuiag said.

Police reports reveal that Curtis Wade Holley set the fire to his house and waited for it to become engulfed before asking for a neighbor to call 911. He allegedly planned to kill as many first time responders as possible.

"These first responders performed their duty bravely, with courage and with honor," McQuiag said. "They are the reason that this casualty count is not higher than what it is."

The two Leon County Sheriff's Office Deputies, who were the first to respond, have been identified as Colin Wulfekuhl and Smith (the deceased). They both arrived on the scene of the crime in different cars.

Authorities have revealed that the officer killed was married and had two children; he died immediately after being shot with the .40 caliber handgun by Curtis Wade Holley.

"It was a 100 % ambush," McQuiag said of the incident. "[Curtis Wade Holley] had a plan and he put this plan into action."

Curtis Wade Holley was reportedly living in the house set ablaze for about a year; the property was completely razed by the flame. No one was injured in the fire.
