Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon Atlanta 2014 Winners [VIDEO]

The Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon Atlanta 2014 got off to a great start on Thursday morning with scores of eager Americans ready to test their legs against the three hours-thirty minutes course.

Although the event is a rain or shine race, the clear weather Thursday was just right for the runners to put their might against the course. And run, they did!

At about 7:30a.m. this morning, thousands of people had crowded near Turner Field on Capitol Ave./ Hank Aaron Drive, downtown Atlanta. After the national anthem was sung the Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon Atlanta 2014 got off to a roaring start. The 5K Thanksgiving race was also staged today.

According to Atlanta Track Club twitter posts, Michael Conway from Connecticut was pronounced the overall male winner of the Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon Atlanta with a time of 1:07:58. Not far behind him was Annie Kelly from Alpharetta, who was pronounced the overall female winner of the Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon Atlanta 2014 with a time of 1:25:39.

The Atlanta Track Club website dedicated to the Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon Atlanta race is yet to be updated with the results of the just-ending race. A notification says the results will be posted in the afternoon of 11/27/14.

Since the end of the race, many participants have taken to social media to congratulate themselves for finishing the course with the tagline #ATLHalf.

"Proud, frozen and ready for a nap!! Happy Thanksgiving!" writes Sarah Hix on Twitter.

"You can't have Thanksgiving without the Atlanta Half Marathon," Nate Feather writes."Good run. Good spectators. Good people."

The Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon Atlanta is one of the oldest annual marathons held in the country and has come to be regarded as somewhat of a tradition. The two overall winners of the competition earn $500 each, while the winners of the 5K Thanksgiving race take home $250 cash.
