Expendables 4 Casting Update: Manny Pacquiao To Play Rogue General, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Wants to be Villain

Eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao could hit the big screen soon as the newest member of the star-studded Expendables cast, according to a source close to situation.

Pacquiao, coming off a successful defense of his WBO Welterweight championship after a sensational 12-round unanimous decision win over Chris Algieri in Macau, could be joining Sylvester Stallone, Schwarzenegger to make the latest edition of the Expendables, a high-budget action-packed film franchise that features the biggest actions star in different generations.

Although it won't be the first time Pacquiao gets involved in a movie (He already starred on several films in the Philippines), it's definitely a first that the former pound-for-pound champion will have a significant role in a Hollywood film.

Pacquiao confirmed that Stallone and Schwarzenegger indeed showed interest in adding him to the roster, though he hasn't received a formal offer yet.

While it's still pretty much premature to imagine Pacquiao being part of the Expendables family, there are already reports of a plan to add Pacquiao and another big action star, Dwyane Johnson also known as the Rock.

According to ENZ Stars, Pacquiao will play the character as rogue general in the Philippines, while Johnson plays one of the antagonist roles in the series.

"Even though the last one didn't do as well as they had hoped, a fourth Expendables movie could be on the way. The latest version, the gang could be headed to the Philippines with Manny Pacquiao as a rebel general," ENZ Stars reported.

"While this sounds like a plot for Rambo, the franchise could be looking to add a more international feel by traveling the globe for the next movie. Boxer Pacquiao is a well-known figure and could team up with Dwayne Johnson, who wants to play a villain in the franchise."

The 35-year old Pacquiao is currently looking to start negotiation with Floyd Mayweather Jr's camp for megabuck showdown that has been delayed for five years and counting.

Buoyed by his lopsided win over Algieri, Pacquiao believes that the time is ripe to make his fight with Mayweather happen, a showdown that will determine who is the best boxer in the era.
