Google Announce the Most Googled Celebrities in 2014; Why Did They Trend?

As the year ends, Google announced the most searched celebrities of 2014, Huffington Post reported.

Google has revealed the top trending searches in 2014 including the most googled celebrities.  Internet sites looked back what made these people trend.

Jennifer Lawrence is on the number one spot for the most googled celebrities of the year. Most of the searches are probably associated with the hacked nude photos that circulated the internet and "Hunger Games" related news just come in second, according to Chicago Sun Times.

The second most searched celebrity is the woman who "broke the internet" this year due to her nude photos on a magazine cover. Kim Kardashian is number two as her bare naked pictures went viral and her wedding with Kanye became the number one most googled celebrity wedding in the US.

Third is the French actress Juliet Gayet who made headlines this year due to the rumors that she was the mistress of French president Francois Hollande. Gayet has been an avid supporter of the president during his campaign, Mirror UK reported.

Tracy Morgan was the fourth most googled celebrity due to the accident he had with a Walmart truck. The actor gained serious injuries and sued the Walmart truck driver. Morgan is still under therapy for his leg injuries as of this time.

Renne Zellweger came in fifth after Internet users were shocked with her new looks in October. The actress has been in hiatus for five years and reportedly went under the knife. Backlash due to her unrecognizable face came pouring in on social media.

Jared Leto made waves this year in the number six spot when he won the "Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor" due his role in "Dallas Buyers Club." Leto also became a new fashion icon with his gorgeous mane. Due to the buzz about his fashion style, the actor launched his very own site "Just like Jared" so fans can dress like him, according to New York Post.

The seventh spot goes to musician Lorde who made headlines with her songs and performed at various music festivals. The singer is also the number one most searched Kiwi in New Zealand trending searches.

Matthew McConaughey is the eight most googled celebrity since he won this year's "Academy Award for Best Actor" for his part in the movie "Dallas Buyers Club." The actor reinvented himself by starring in several indie dramas and the highly- acclaimed series "True Detective, Bucks Local News reported.

The ninth place goes to Amal Lamudin-Clooney who is also included in Barbara Walters' "The Most Fascinating People of 2014." The attorney and former UN commissioner married A-list actor George Clooney this year.

Finally, on the tenth spot is businessman and the owner of Los Angeles Clippers, Donald Sterling.  The business man was controversial due to the racist remarks he said on a leaked tape. In the tape, Sterling told his girlfriend not to bring black people to his team, according to Forbes.

Meanwhile, Google has also released a video that summarized the top searches in 2014.
