Bobby Shmurda: Rapper Arrested In Connection With Drugs, Gun Trafficking And Gang Violence

Bobby Shmurda - Authorities in New York have arrested rap artist Bobby Shmurda following a long investigation into his involvement in drug trafficking, shooting and gang-related street violence in Brooklyn.

NYPD reports indicate that Bobby Shmurda, whose legal name is Ackquille Pollard, was arrested and taken into custody on Wednesday morning. The suspect was reportedly sitting in his car just outside Quad Recording Studious on Seventh Avenue when he was apprehended.

Investigators say three guns were found in his car at the time of his arrest.

According to local sources, the 20-year-old upcoming rapper, who has had several run-ins with authorities in recent months, was arrested along with 12 other members of GS9, a Brooklyn gang, which also goes by the name Shmurda's rap crew. 

NYPD has scheduled a press conference to make his arraignment public. Reports indicate that the rapper will be facing drug and gun trafficking charges when he is officially indicted on Thursday in the Manhattan Supreme Court.

The rapper, who is famous for his remixes of chart-topping songs, has been arrested twice in Brooklyn. In June, Bobby Shmurda was arrested for possession a firearm and in October he was arrested for marijuana possession.

Kato Cornell, a spokeswoman for the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor said Bobby Shmurda's arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into a series of gang related drug trafficking and shootings in New York. 

The NYPD's newly formed Brooklyn South Violence Reduction Task Force took part in the investigation.

Bobby Shmurda is mostly remembered for his song Hot Boy which raked-in millions of views after it was posted on YouTube in August. Bobby Shmurda has performed his hit song on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Bobby Shmurda's attorney has not been revealed. However, he/she is expected to be present for the rapper's hearing tomorrow.
