FedEx Driver Shot - Police in Memphis have mounted a manhunt for a suspect who shot a FedEx driver delivering Christmas presents with a high-powered rifle on Thursday.

Reports from local sources indicate that the incident happened southwest of the Memphis International Airport. The FedEx driver shot sustained serious injuries and has since been transported to Regional One Hospital in critical condition.

The identity of the FedEx driver has not been yet been disclosed and doctors have since upgraded him to a stable condition.

Authorities say the suspect, who is still on the run, is an African American male between the ages of 35 to 40 years old. The suspect is said to be driving a silver or gray 2002 Chrysler Town & Country minivan with tag number RN 633-YKY. He was last seen wearing a Dallas Cowboy jacket.

Reports indicate that FedEx driver was shot around 4:40 p.m. at the intersection of Holmes Road and Malone Road, where he had parked his truck. The suspect reportedly got out of his car and shot the driver at the lower part of his body with a high-powered rifle.

FedEx officials have released a statement concerning the news of the company's employee being shot. "Our first thoughts and concerns are with our colleague and we are cooperating fully with the law enforcement investigation," the company's statement said.

Authorities say an investigation into the incident is underway. It's still unclear why the suspect shot the FedEx driver or if both men knew each other.

Police in Memphis are urging anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of the suspect who shot the FedEx driver to call 901-528- or 9-1-1.
