Christine Baranski: Actress Reveals Inspiration For Playing Stepmother In Christmas Day Release Of Into The Woods

Christine Baranski has given a preview into the woman she drew inspiration from while playing the character of Cinderella's legendary wicked stepmother in the much anticipated first ever big screen adaptation of Into The Woods.

"I've seen that woman who I play in into the Woods. I've seen that woman everywhere. I've seen here in beauty salons, you see them in the first floor at Bloomingdales, you see them on reality shows, you see them in our culture," the 62-year-old Emmy and Tony Award winner said in an interview on LIVE with Kelly and Michael.

Reports indicate that the star studded and highly anticipated big screen adaptation of Into The Woods is scheduled to hit the theaters nationwide on Dec. 25th.

Christine Baranski stars alongside other notable names in this movie, which is official described as "a modern twist into the beloved Brother Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the characters 'wishes and quests.

Reports also indicate that the Disney film is a very humorous musical that follows the lives of several characters in the classic Cinderella story.

"This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella [Anna Kendrick], Little Red Riding Hood [Lila Crawford], Hack and the Beanstalk [Daniel Huttlestone], and Rapunzel [MacKenzie Mauzy], all tied by an original story involving a Baker and his wife [James Corden and Emily Blunt], their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the Witch [Meryl Streep], who put a curse on them," the official synopsis reads.

Hollywood reports indicate that Into The Woods was directed by Rob Marshall, the award winning filmmaker, who had been honored for his work on Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and the Academy Award winning musical Chicago.

According to Christine Baranski, who is popular for her role in The Good Wife, "the Stepmother [in the upcoming movie] is a peripheral character."
