Facebook 2015: Mark Zuckerberg Contemplates On A Facebook Dislike Button

Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg  is considering a dislike button, according to Inquisitr.

A Facebook dislike button has been a longtime request from social media users. The co-founder has revealed that they are cautiously thinking about adding the feature.

"We need to figure out the right way to do it so it ends up being a force for good, not a force for bad because a 'dislike' or other negative sentiment could easily be used for the wrong reasons," Zuckerberg said.

The Internet entrepreneur explained that he is aware that most people would like to see other buttons aside from like. Although a dislike button is the most requested, the new feature will probably not be called as that, Mashable reported.

"Everyone feels like they can just push the Like button, and that's an important way to sympathize or empathize with someone. But there are times when you may want the simplicity of a one-click response but a "like" doesn't feel appropriate," Zuckerberg added.

Zuckerberg further explained how he wants the site to be more on a positive note, Daily Mail reported.

"The like button is valuable because it's a quick way to share a positive sentiment. Some people have asked for a dislike button so they can say something isn't good, and we're not going to do that. I don't think that's good for the community," he said.

As the news spread, netizens  expressed their thoughts on the dislike button plans on Twitter.

Abdel Ibrahim with username @abdophoto shared his and wrote: "There's already enough hate that goes on Facebook. A Dislike button would only make it worse."

Joel Swann read the news from Business Insider and replied: " Facebook is thinking about adding a 'dislike' button https://read.bi/1wkF9qR " < Well needed!!!"

Rebeal Bailey has a negative response to the dislike button and posted: "No! The world is gloomy enough :)"

Social media users have mixed responses. This may not be materialized since the dislike button feature has been discussed even before. But Facebook users can expect that new features other than the dislike button will hit the site in 2015.
