Ashley Graham: The Plus-Size Model Who Bravely Denounced Hollywood’s Beauty Standards

Ashley Graham, a renowned plus-size model who has appeared on acclaimed fashion magazines like Vogue and Elle, has recently denounced Hollywood's beauty standards. She also slammed Jennifer Lawrence as the "media's poster girl for curves."

Nowadays, the fashion world has broken the mold of the super skinny image that everyone seems so crazy about and paved way to a much healthier size, the plus-size models. But as the fashion industry welcomes these curvier models, Hollywood still seems to be reluctant in embracing the latest norm. Thus making Ashley Graham lashed out for its curvy body image standard, Bustle revealed.

In an interview with Net-a-Porter's online magazine, The Edit, Ashely Graham opened up about the idealized standard for body image. While Graham praises Marilyn Monroe and Jennifer Lopez for their "hourglass" physiques, PEOPLE said the famous plus-size model believes that the entertainment industry should go much bolder and embrace women of all shapes and sizes.

"Young girls [with curves] don't have much to look at, curvy women are not on covers of magazines, they're not talked about on social media as much as other celebrities," Graham said as quoted by MTV. "Jennifer Lawrence is the media's poster girl for curves - she's tiny."

Though Ashley Graham has been a size 14 for the past eight years, it still did not stop her to feel confident and beautiful saying "it's not about conforming" and added that she loves flaunting her hourglass shape. Us Weekly reported that Graham also talked to teens around the US about the significance of body acceptance.

"You can be healthy as long as you're taking care of your body, working out, and telling yourself 'I love you' instead of taking in the negativity of beauty standards," Graham confidently stated.

Ashley Graham has been a role model to young girls who's been obsessing over the narrow standards of beauty. And though Hollywood is still categorizing women through their figures, her advocacy for a much healthier figure has inspired women to love their curves.

"It's not just about being healthy; it's also about loving who you are," the plus-size model said.
