Though the reason for the breakup was not disclosed, a Vietnamese Web site revealed that WWE champ-turned-actor may have been responsible for the split.
Irina Shayk has ended her relationship with 29-year-old football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. And now all fingers are pointing to The Rock, Shayk's "Hercules" costar. The breakup was confirmed by the 29-year-old model's representative to The Daily Mail on Saturday.
"We can confirm Irina Shayk has ended her relationship to Cristiano Ronaldo of five years," Shayk's rep said.
Is The Rock to blame over Irina Shayk's breakup to Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo? Rumors have it that the cause of the couple's separation was Ronaldo's family. However, The Hindustan Times reported the Russian model denied the speculations.
"Irina has been close with his family throughout the course of their relationship," Shayk's rep added. "Any negative rumors with regards to Irina and the Ronaldo family are completely false, and have not been a factor in the cause of the split."
The speculations about the status of Ronaldo's relationship to Shayk sparked up after the model unfollowed him on Twitter. It also heightened when she failed to attend the prestigious Ballon d'Or award ceremony held in Zurich last week where Ronaldo was honored. Moreover, Ronaldo's failure to include her in his acceptance speech further added fire to the rumors.
Meanwhile, the rumors about the developing love affair between Irina Shayk and The Rock came after they worked together in the 2014 film, "Hercules," which marked Irina's acting breakthrough. According to the Metro, the two got closer during the filming of the movie.
Though The Rock's name was not mentioned as the cause in Irina Shayk's split to Ronaldo, rumors spread that he might triggered the separation as they were reportedly getting closer. Caught Off Side revealed that Vietnamese site, Bongdaplus claimed that on Shayk's birthday, "The Scorpion King" actor sent the model flowers. The site also reported that it might be Johnson's masculinity that made Irina fall for him.
Unfortunately, these rumors are still unconfirmed. And it might be that The Rock's name was just dragged to Irina Shayk's breakup since the 42-year-old actor is currently married. While Shayk seemed to have moved on, Trome reported that Ronaldo might have found a new love as well, Spanish-Portuguese TV presenter Lucia Villalon.
