Phillip Perea: Former Fox News Employee Shoots Himself Outside Company's Headquarters, Claimed Network Ruined His Life

Phillip Perea - A former Fox television employee has shot and killed himself outside the company's headquarters in Midtown Manhattan after claiming the company ruined his career.

According to reports, Phillip Perea, who worked for FOX 7-KTBC in Austin, Texas as a promotions producer, claimed the company ruined his life before taking his own life.

He handed out business cards to strangers, the cards read "The American Workplace Bully: How FOX News ended my career."

The 41-year-old native of Irving, Texas is reported to have shot himself in the chest sometime before 9 a.m. just outside the doors of 21st Century Fox Inc on 1211 Avenue of Americas.

He was transported to the Bellevue Hospital Center, where doctors pronounced him dead after an hour of arrival.

"This morning, a former employee of FOX 7-KTBC (Austin) committed suicide outside FOX Television Stations' headquarters in New York City," Fox Televisions CEO Jack Abernethy said in a statement to employees about the tragic incident. "He was employed at our Austin television station for ten months and has not been with the station or FTS since June 2014. We are deeply saddened by this tragedy."

Authorities recovered a gun and a suicide note at the scene. According to reports, Phillip Perea was deeply angry at Fox and an hour before he took his own life, he vented his frustrations on his Twitter page.

One of his tweets read "Will be homeless thanks to FOX lies. Is this the America you want.?"

Mr. Phillip Perea has also more than a dozen videos on YouTube where he states why he thinks Fox suspended and then fired him after 10 months on the job last year.

It is not immediately clear what may have led Fox to fire Phillip Perea, and why he sought to address the issues in this manner.
