Emma Watson: Disney’s Newest Princess In ‘Beauty And The Beast’ Remake But Who Will Play As Beast?

On Monday, Emma Watson made an exciting revelation about her upcoming project with Disney. CNN revealed the 24-year-old British actress announced the news through a Facebook post saying she will be play the role of Belle in the live-action version of 1991 Disney classic film, "Beauty and the Beast."

Emma Watson, famously known as Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" franchises, will take the challenge to be the newest Disney princess. According to FOX News, the upcoming film will reunite her with author-director Stephen Chbosky, who will be helming the screenplay for the live-action version of the Disney classic film.

Emma Watson and Chbosky have worked together in the movie, "Perks of Being a Wallflower," which was a film adaptation of a Chbosky's novel with the same title. The "Beauty and the Beast" remake will also feature Bill Condon as the film's director. Condon is known for his directorial skills in the two final "Twilight" films, "Breaking Dawn Part 1 and 2."

Confirming the news, Watson wrote a statement on her official Facebook page.

"I'm finally able to tell you... that I will be playing Belle in Disney's new live-action Beauty and the Beast!" Emma Watson wrote. "It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I'll get to dance to 'Be Our Guest' and sing 'Something There'. My six year old self is on the ceiling - heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can't wait for you to see it. Emma xx"

"Beauty and the Beast" was a 1991 Disney classic film that became a huge box-office success. The Guardian reported that it was the first animated film to be nominated for an Oscar award for "Best Picture" category. Moreover, its title song, which was sung by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson, won the Oscars for "Best Music, Original Song" category. The film was also given Golden Globe and Grammy Award recognitions.

Emma Watson's "Beauty and the Best" reboot will begin its production later this year, Variety revealed. However, no release date has been set.
