Serena Williams vs. Maria Sharapova Live Stream, Highlights & Stats of 2015 Australian Open

Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova will resume what has been a very lopsided yet still intriguing rivalry between the two biggest names in women's tennis in the final of the Australian Open championship on Sunday at Melbourne Park.

For the 15 straight times, Sharapova will attempt to pull off a victory against Williams in the finale of the first of the four Grand Slam tourneys in the calendar.

Sharapova, who is gunning for his fifth Grand Slam title, last won over Williams in the championship of the WTA Tour Finals just several months after beating the American at All-England Club to win her first Grand Slam crown at Wimbledon in 2004.

Unfortunately, Sharapova never tasted another win against Williams over the last 11 years. Serena, looking for his 19th Grand Slam crown, simply overwhelmed the Russian diva in 15 consecutive matches, dropping just three sets in the process.

There's no doubt Williams enters Saturday's women's singles final as the hands-down favorite to win another major. Still, Sharapova believes she has a chance as long as she brings her A-game on the court.

"It's been a really difficult match-up for me, but I am a competitor," said Sharapova, seeded second. I will go out and I will do everything I can to try to change that result around."

Williams, on the other hand, isn't going to be complacent in the finals despite her superior head-to-head record against Sharapova because she knows her rival is very much capable of beating her.

"I think she's been a wonderful player in this era," said Williams. "She's so consistent. She just always wants to get better. It's going to be important for me to get off to a good start, I think. With that being said, if not, I'm going to be ready to fight."
