Nintendo's 'Legend of Zelda' Live Action Comes to Netflix

Netflix is reportedly preparing a live-action series based on the video game "Legend of Zelda," according to Value Walk.

The series is based on the journey of the lead character Link who is out to rescue the princess named Zelda. Link will also save the fantasy world Hyrule. Netflix is reportedly looking for writers to work on the upcoming series, which they described as a "Game of Thrones" for the family.

The original "Legend of Zelda" game featured "swords and sorcery" similar to "Game of Thrones" and "Lord of the Rings" but it is more child friendly. Netflix has reportedly partnered with Nintendo to work on the new series since the game developer released 20 "Legend of Zelda" games in the past.

Netflix may have been inspired to produce a series based on the game since it has sold more than 60 million copies worldwide when it was released on 1986. Added with the popularity of fantasy world in series nowadays, the "Legend of Zelda" may be a success, The Guardian reported.

On the other hand, the "Legend of Zelda" games are set in an open world. The storyline is compelling but players are free to navigate Hyrule and join extra quests. The gamers also have the freedom to discover how the fantasy world works.

The freedom that the players enjoy is essential to take pleasure in the entire journey insidethe fantasy world. The beauty of "Legend of Zelda" does not rely heavily on the storyline but in the chance to explore the whole open universe and take part in a bizarre culture. This will reportedly be a challenge for Netflix to produce the live-action series in a way that matches the experience of the hardcore gamers.

Nintendo is also keen on protecting its creations and has only permitted a few adaptations throughout the years. In 1989, an animated "Legend of Zelda" was aired for one season only. In 1993, a movie adaption of Nintendo's "Super Mario Bros" failed to succeed in the big screen.

As of this time, Netflix spokesperson has not officially confirmed the adaptation of "Legend of Zelda" and they said that the company refuses to "comment on rumors and speculation."
