The Walking Dead Season 5 Midseason Premiere Was Watched By Over 15.6 Million People

The Walking Dead Season 5 - The return of The Walking Dead this past Sunday saw an unprecedented 15.6 million viewers tune in to AMC's feed to watch the show, making it the biggest regularly-scheduled program on television.

Charlie Collier, the president of AMC said "In a competitive environment that sometimes gets as much press as the shows themselves, it is gratifying to deliver programming that breaks through and reaches passionate audiences."

The fact that most of the viewers of The Walking Dead are adults aged between 18 and 49 adds a lot to this record, but when we consider the fact that the midseason premiere of the show also set a new record for illicit downloads, the immense interest of the public in the fate of Rick Grimes and his band of survivors becomes really clear.

The Walking Dead Season 5, Episode 9 contained a lot of surprises for viewers. Giving that the crew were only coming to terms with the death of Beth and Dawn, no one would have imagined that Tyresse would also be killed off. His attack by two zombies ultimately caused him to lose too much blood and die. Some fans have since noted that this turn of events is much better than Tyresse turning into one of those horrible-looking zombies.

Without a home, Rick and his pack are more desperate than ever. The Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 10 will see the pack making their way to Washington DC. With zombies at every turn, the trek to DC may see the crew lose another member, or maybe gain one...

There have been rumors that Rick's old friend Morgan will join with the pack. If upcoming The Walking Dead episode plays out like this, the pack will have greater chances of beating the odds thanks to Morgan's deep knowledge of the roads, and the fact that he may be in possession of Abraham's long lost map of the city.
