Jason Hendrix - Authorities in Maryland say a 16-year-old boy, who was shot and killed after a violent face-off with police, is suspected to have murdered his entire family in Kentucky before fleeing to the East Coast.
According to reports, Jason Hendrix, a High school student, who was baptized two months ago, led police on a high speed chase in a green Honda Pilot after refusing to stop on Interstate 95 on Saturday morning around central Maryland.
The chase came to an end in Esssex, and Jason was shot and killed after reportedly shooting and injuring an officer.
The incident prompted investigators to visit his home 500 miles away in Corbin, Kentucky, where they discovered the bodies of his father, mother and sister.
Officer Steve Meadors visited the home of Mr. Kevin and Dr. Sarah Hendrix to conduct a welfare check but discovered their bodies, along with their 12-year-old daughter, Grace.
All three were reportedly murdered execution- style, with gunshot wounds to the back of the head. Investigators say two bodies were found in the kitchen and one in the bedroom.
Authorities say preliminary investigation reveals that they were murdered late Wednesday afternoon.
According to Corbin Police Chief David Campbell, Jason Hendrix, a member of his school's junior ROTC program, was angry at his parents because they took away his computer privileges.
"The mother had talked to a co-worker and told her that he was really mad about that."
"Right now all the evidence points toward him as being the shooter," Campbell said on Sunday.
The incident has left friends and neighbors of the small southeastern town in Kentucky devastated, they are all struggling to come to terms with the actions of Hendrix, who many describe as a polite and faithful Christian.
"People want to ask questions. Why? How? I simply looked at folks today and said,. 'I don't know," Drew Mahan, founding pastor of Forward Community Church, where the Hendrix' attended, said after Sunday service.
"The guy has been here. He's been an influence on our students, he's been an influence on my own kids. They love him."
Reports indicate that his father, Mr Hendrix was a beekeeper, while Mrs Hendrix was a professor at Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky. Grace Hendrix, his sister, was a middle school cheerleader.
At least six Baltimore County Police officers fired at Hendrix during the shootout. He was initially pulled over for a speeding violation. The officer, who was shot, was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment. He has since been discharged.
