On Saturday, Angelina Jolie made her first ever post-surgery appearance at the 2015 Kids' Choice Awards at The Forum in Inglewood, California. During the show, the 39-year-old actress delivered an empowering speech about embracing differences.
After the much-discussed surgery, Angelina Jolie and her two daughters, 10-year-old Zahara and 8-year-old Shiloh brought a lot of excitement at Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards 2015. According to People, the "Unbroken" director delivered a moving speech during Saturday's award show as she became the recipient of the Favorite Villain citation for her 2014 Disney movie, "Maleficent."
"Different is good. So, don't fit," Jolie, who played the iconic villain Maleficent, said as she urged the crowd to be unafraid of diversity. "Don't ever try to be less than what you are, and when someone tells you that you are different, smile and hold your head up high and be proud."
This week, Angelina Jolie, who earned two Kids' Choice nominations for Favorite Villain and Favorite Movie Actress this 2015 as per Us Weekly, is a major headline-maker. On Tuesday, she chronicled her experiences on cancer prevention in The Opinion Pages of the New York Times titled, "Diary of a Surgery." But on her speech, she shared that just like others, she too was never one to fit in with the crowd.
The mother-of-six also added that because she's deemed unfit, she learned to embrace and feel proud about being different, E! News reported.
"I was told I was different. And I felt out of place: too loud, too full of fire, never good at sitting still, never good at fitting in," she shared about her experiences when she was young, the Daily Mail cited.
Aside from Angelina Jolie, celebs like Emma Stone, Nick Jonas, One Direction, Selena Gomez, Liam Hemsworth, Jennifer Lawrence and Ben Stiller are also hailed as winners at the Nickelodeon fan-voted awards. And performances from Jonas, Iggy Azalea with Jennifer Hudson, and 5 Seconds of Summer, which ended up taking a slime hit, also thrilled the audience.
Meanwhile, as Angelina Jolie delivered her moving and encouraging speech, she definitely inspired her fans of all ages. And to make it even more interesting, Jolie ended her discourse in an epic wicked way.
"Cause a little trouble. It's good for you," she concluded.
