"I could barely eat, and when we went to the pool, I had to leave and go lie in bed," she recalled, ET Online cited. "I felt like I couldn't breathe, I couldn't talk and I couldn't move. I thought I was dying."

Even if Avril Lavigne consulted several doctors throughout the year for her mysterious illness, she was not diagnosed with the infectious disease until after her birthday, in which her symptoms became too much too ignore. Yahoo! News reported the "Girlfriend" singer attributed her severe case to a tick bite last spring.

"I had no idea a bug bite could do this," Avril Lavigne, whose net worth ranges from $45 to $50 million, told People's April 13 issue, which will be out on newsstands Friday. "I was bedridden for five months."

Recently, Avril Lavigne's net worth seemed to have taken a nosedive after she's been absent from the public eye and the music scene due to "health issues." And now, as she revealed her battle with Lyme disease, a bacterial infection transmitted by a tick and which "RHOBH" star Yolanda Foster is also suffering, she knew she had to fight.   

"I had to fight," Lavigne told the magazine. "I had doctors tell me I was crazy and they didn't want to test me. I had to learn about it completely on my own."
