Xiaomi Has Sold 35 Million Smartphones In Q1, Q2

Xiaomi has sold 34.7 million smartphones in the first half of 2015 which is a 33 percent increase compared to last year, according to CNET

The Chinese company's entry into new markets like India and Indonesia has catapulted the company's sales figures, although Xiaomi remains silent on the breakdown of their unit sales.

Last year, Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun announced their plans to sell 1000 million units in 2015, and with their entry to the Brazilian market, the company is confident of selling another 65 million smartphones.

Reception among Brazilians for this Chinese-made smartphone have so far been positive, as Xiaomi marks Brazil as its first strong market outside Asia.

Although avoiding the US and Europe, Xiaomi targets emerging markets with affordable phones and, so far, their strategy is working.  Xiaomi's success has also bostered the popularity of other Chinese brands that are also affordable.

However, the StreetWise Journal said Xiaomi could miss their 100 million target for this year. This is because new sales report shows that China's smartphone market is close to getting saturated. Smartphone shipments plunged in China after six years in the first quarter. This of course, has yet to be verified if it is a signal of a downward trend.

Nonetheless, Lei remains optimistic. He said that they did a stellar job of posting a 33 percent growth on last year's numbers despite a slowing down in China's smartphone market. He added that they outperformed the market and produced an excellent report card.

Tech Crunch revealed that Xiaomi did not say which markets accounted for what specific fraction of sales. Xiaomi did say that 70 percent of sales came from its Mi.com store, which is its main retail point that forged partnerships with distributors in China and other countries.

But the company isn't just focused on the low-end market; Xiaomi also makes high-end devices such as its Mi Note and Mi 4i. Priced much lower than most flagship phones, these devices have been popular with consumers.

The company is not just limited to catering in the low-end market.  The Mi Note and Mi 41 are high-end devices that re priced much lower than most flagship devices, making it popular with phone users.
