'To Tell The Truth' Returns To Primetime With NeNe Leaks, Betty White And Anthony Anderson

ABC is going to air a six-episode reboot of the widely syndicated show during the '50s — "To Tell The Truth."

NeNe Leaks, who announced just recently that she's leaving the show "Real Housewives of Atlanta" after eight productive years, is joining the returning series. The Wrap reports that Leaks' contract is almost up and Leakes thinks that it is time to move on. Leaks was even qouted saying, "This is my opportunity to spread my wings and do different things."

Leakes wrote on her blog: "When one door closes, another door opens!!!" She added, "Your girl is returning to primetime network TV on the new ABC variety series 'To Tell the Truth.' I start filming on Monday."

Joining NeNe Leakes is Miss Betty White. Anthony Anderson will host the show.  A third panelist for the show has yet to be announced.

The Thrasher Backer reports that the show will typically include three contestants that will all claim the same name and profession. It is the job of the panelist to guess who the correct one is. To keep up with the time, as a punishment to the panelist who has the worst performance, he or she is obliged to tweet a lie, preferably something about them, to the rest of the world.

According to the NY Post, Anderson's mother is also going to be the show's scorekeeper.

"To Tell The Truth" is actually a game show. The show's original hosts were Bud Collyer, Garry Moore, Joe Garagiola and Gordon Elliot. "To Tell The Truth premiered in 1956 on CBS network.

With NeNe, Betty White and Anthony Anderson on the line up, the show is ought to be a funny one. It is going to be produced by FremantleMedia North America and they are planning to tape the show in front of a live audience. Executive producers for the show include Barry Poznick, Toby Gorman, Thorn Beers, Jeff Gaspin, George Moll and Anderson.
