‘True Detective' Season 2, Episode 4 Sneak Peek: Is Someone Making It Out Alive?

As most viewers expected, Ray Velcoro (Colin Farrell) survived the gunshot. As it turned out, the gun used was loaded with non-lethal buckshots. In the first place, would Colin Farrell sign up for just two episodes?

HBO had now released next week's "Down Will Come" episode trailer as shown here courtesy of Comic Book. HBO continues to whet viewers appetite by keeping the suspense by their thought-provoking sneak peeks, enough to give ideas without revealing so much.

This preview suggests that a major character's death is imminent or another major discovery will be unraveled, and this mystery makes this gritty series popular among viewers.

"True Detective" Season 2 received mixed reactions during its premier. This crime drama has deviated from the occult element that had fans hooked to the first season. The first episode focused on the personal lives of the major characters, and ended with the mystery each character getting involved in, leaving viewers asking what's next.

But as the plot thickened, episode 2 and 3 redeemed this totally different "True Detective" season as they focuse on the mystery the characters are trying to solve in the process and unravel more bizarre twists and elements in the characters' search for the truth. This makes Season 2 different and unique from the first season of the series.

Moviepilot opined that the "True Detective" Season 2 is smashing the ambiguity of the first season by depicting a world where people move into afterlives, experience resurrection as well as deaths without leaving this world, which makes for an interesting diversion. More bizarre twists and turns could be expected.

The Wall Street Journal said that "True Detective" Season 2 is capable of getting weird. The third episode in fact, opened with musician-actor Jake La Botz impersonating Conway Twitty, as he performed Twitty's hit "The Rose" under a dull, blue light. This performance took place at Velcoro's favorite dive bar while having a conversation with his old man (Fred Ward). This scene turned out to be a dream sequence.
