Comic book writer Grant Morrison expressed his indignation over Wonder Woman's portrayal in the upcoming superhero flick "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."
Morrison has just wrapped up his work on "Wonder Woman: Earth One." He informed Nerdist when asked about the status of his comic book. He said, "It's finished now and it'll be coming out soon. I sat down and I thought, 'I don't want to do this warrior woman thing'," as per IGN.
The comic legend, who has also done "Batman: Arkham Asylum," added, "I can understand why they're doing it. I get all that, but that's not what [Wonder Woman creator] William Marston wanted, that's not what he wanted at all!"
According to The Guardian, the Scottish writer felt "Batman v Superman" portrayed Wonder Woman as a snarling, aggressive Amazonian princess which was a far cry from what Wonder Woman's creator William Moulton Marston's vision of her. He further stated that his take on his comic book of the superhero would present a more peace-loving Wonder Woman --- honoring Marston's concept of female superheroes that represented a woman's placid nature, rather than her 1940s male contemporaries that have combative nature such as Superman and Batman.
"Marston's Diana was a doctor, a healer, a scientist," he said and slammed director Zach Synder's approach, "you see the latest shots of Gal Gadot in the costume, and it's all sword and shield and her snarling at the camera."
Morrison stated he was driven to adopt a more nonviolent and aesthetic in his comic "Wonder Woman: Earth One." "Halfway through the book, we're building up to this big fight, and then I thought, 'No ... this book isn't about fights, there's not going to be any fights," he said. "[I thought,] what would a society of immortal women that's been around for 7,000 years have done? They wouldn't still be chopping men's heads off; they've got art and architecture and philosophy and poetry and it's got nothing to do with men.
Meanwhile, "Batman v Superman" Israeli actress Gal Gadot, who portrays Wonder Woman in the movie took a breather from her role and was busily promoting her new Gucci Bamboo commercial, as per The Cut.
