‘Legend of Zelda’ For Wii U Delayed Again? Nintendo Releases Lineup Of Games For 2016

It seems the Wii U edition of "The Legend of Zelda" has been delayed yet again since it was not included in Nintendo's list of games scheduled to arrive in 2016.

According to the Japanese company's report, which included its earnings for the first fiscal quarter of 2015, there are three games set to debut next year, Cinema Blend reported.

These titles are "Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games," "Shin Megami Tense x Fire Emblem" and "Project Giant Robot."

The new "Legend of Zelda" game for the Wii U console is also mentioned in the list but instead of getting a 2016 release schedule, it was marked as TBD or to-be-determined.

This then led various sources to assume that the game has been delayed once again. Development of the game was first announced in Jan. 23, 2013, with a release period set for this year.

However, on March 27, Nintendo announced that it will not be able to meet its 2015 deadline for the game due to certain development issues. As a result, the company did not make a presentation for "The Legend of Zelda" during the recent Electronic Entertainment Expo held in June.

Reggie Fils-Aime, the COO of Nintendo of America, told IGN in an interview that the game might come out in 2016.

Nevertheless, Wired pointed out that although "The Legend of Zelda" was marked as TBD in Nintendo's report, this does not automatically mean that the game has been delayed for a second time.

The tech news site noted that after the Electronic Entertainment Expo, the company did not provide an exact release date for the game. In other words, the release status of "The Legend of Zelda" is still the same.

Technically, this means Nintendo hasn't delayed the game again because it never had a specific release date. The game could either come out later this year or sometime in 2016.
