Reserve Forward Mike Scott Charged With Possession of Marijuana, Schedule I Drug Following Banks County Chase; Atlanta Hawks React

James Michael "Mike" Scott, Atlanta Hawks' reserve forward was taken into custody by Banks County deputies on Thursday after getting involved in a chase.

The 27-year-old faces charges of felony possession of marijuana and possession of a Schedule I drug, FOX Sports reported.

Scott was a passenger in a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe that fled a traffic stop on Interstate 85 at around 9 a.m. on July 30. Officers tried to stop the vehicle for following another vehicle too closely.

According to deputies, the car's speed had reached up to 98 mph before the car finally stopped two miles down the road.

The driver of the car was identified as Antonn Imhotep Scott of Acworth, Mike's 20-year-old brother, Daily Press has learned.

"As deputies attempt to make the traffic stop, the driver sped up to 98 mph and failed to stop for deputies. The driver continued for two miles and finally stopped near mile marker 156. ... The occupants advised that they did have marijuana in the vehicle," as per the Banks County Sheriff's Office's report.

Both men admitted to having drugs with them in the car, investigators said. Over 10 grams of MDMA (Molly) and marijuana were found inside the vehicle.

"Deputies located over an ounce of marijuana in the vehicle along with approximately 10.9 grams of MDMA (Molly)," Banks County Sheriff's Sgt. Carissa McFaddin said.

The brothers were held under custody and transported to Banks County Sheriff's Office Law Enforcement Center where charges were filed against them. They were then booked into the banks County Jail and are expected to bond out Thursday night.

Meanwhile, Hawks Head Coach Mike Budenholzer addressed the issue in a statement saying, "We are aware of the situation involving Mike Scott this morning. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not have any additional comments at this time," according to myfoxatlanta.com.
