'Real Housewives Of New Jersey' Teresa Giudice Files Malpractice Suit Against Former Bankruptcy Lawyer

"Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Teresa Giudice is suing her bankruptcy lawyer, who represented the reality star in her bankruptcy case in 2009, for taking her in the wrong direction with her legal proceedings which led to her landing behind bars.

Teresa Giudice is currently locked up to serve her 15-month sentence for bankruptcy fraud, as per Perez Hilton.com. Despite this, Teresa is still seeking justice.

According to People, Attorney Carlos Cuevas, who is her current malpractice lawyer, said that Attorney James Kridel, her former bankruptcy lawyer's "legal malpractice is the reason why she is incarcerated."

Cuevas filed a 53-page lawsuit in Morris County, New Jersey, Superior Court on July 28, claiming Attorney Kridel committed legal malpractice, breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract.

He said he filed the complaint on Teresa Giudice's welfare "to vindicate [her] legal rights, her good name and reputation."

Attorney Cuevas further detailed that the former reality star was seeking to retrieve an undetermined amount of banknotes from Kridel "because she has suffered significant monetary damages because of Defendant Kridel's negligence," but goes on, that any reparation she gets from Kridel "cannot restore her freedom, her good name, her lost professional opportunities, or her agonizing, extended absence from her husband and children's daily lives."

And because of Attorney Kridel's "failure" to function as a bankruptcy lawyer, Teresa Giudice "is now in a federal penitentiary and now a felon."

Teresa Giudice was sentenced after she and husband Joe Giudice pleaded guilty on Oct. 2, 2014, to fraud charges in March 2014. Mail, wire, bank fraud and bankruptcy fraud were included in the 39-count indictment docketed in July 2013, as per Entertainment Tonight.

Her husband, Joe Giudice, was penalized to 41 months behind bars, which he will serve after Teresa Giudice carries out her sentence, allowing one parent to be with their daughters at home.
