New leaked photos from the set of "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" suggest that actor Ken Leung will play a high-ranking military officer in the upcoming film.

Also, a new report confirms details of the new "Star Wars" flick's CGI sequences.

Leung, who is known for his work in "Lost" and the 2006 film "X-Men: The Last Stand," confirmed a few weeks ago that he will join the rest of the cast of "The Force Awakens." In the leaked photos obtained by Dork Side of the Force, the actor is shown wearing a uniform that could signify that he will play a military officer or a political figure in the film.

Another photo showed Leung standing in a room with C-3PO and Carrie Fisher's Princess Leia character. Based on the context of the photo, Leung will appear as an ally or possibly a key figure in the Resistance, an organization similar to the "Star Wars" universe's Rebel Alliance.

As to what other elements fans can expect to see in "The Force Awakens," a new report by Making Star Wars revealed details of the movie's scenes that were made using CGI or computer-generated imagery.

According to the report, the entire film is composed of around 357 scenes. Fans will be happy to know that only about 28 of these feature CGI sequences. Some of these include the scene where a lightsaber is shown rolling down the ground.

Other scenes are more complex such as the sequence showing the Millennium Falcon flying through the wrecked Star Destroyers as it tries to evade the pursuing TIE fighters.

According to the report, many of the films CGI sequences are those that are set in space. This means majority of the scenes showing starships and other space vessels in action are computer-generated.

"Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" will premiere in the U.S. on Dec. 18.

In The Guardian's interview with director J.J. Abrams, he said that the film is currently in the editing process, which means the production team is now fine-tuning the movie in preparation for its official release.
