Ann Curry Returns to 'Today' for Colorado Shooting: Fans Still Go See 'Dark Night Rises,' Authorities Disarm Bomb

Ann Curry returned to Today in the midst of tragedy to report on the Colorado shooting that occurred during a midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" early Friday.

Curry, who was recently dropped from the show and replaced by Savannah Guthrie, co-anchored the morning news show with Guthrie live from Aurora, Colorado.

Curry also reported on a special edition of Dateline, broadcasting live from Aurora Friday night.

The NBC network maintained coverage on the tragedy airing NBC Nightly News live from Aurora Friday night as well.

This is Curry's first time back on the show after her emotional exit in June. Unfortunately, it comes at a time of tragedy, where killer James Holmes took over a dozen lives and left 38 injured after shooting up a theater.

Despite the massacre and all of the news coverage it has received, people are not letting the shooting scare them off from going to see the film.

Movie-goers still crowd into theaters everywhere dressed as their favorite characters.

Movie theaters in places like New York City increased their security and even had NYPD officers outside and inside checking bags.

Police in Colorado worked all morning Friday to disarm Holmes' apartment of a booby-trap he set up. Attempts to enter the home on Friday failed and police postponed the efforts until Saturday.

Authorities confirmed Saturday morning that they have successfully disarmed the first explosive, a trip wire, in the apartment.
