A new report from today suggested that Apple may be planning to release its newest desktop operating system on Wednesday.
The Cupertino, Calif.-based company has announced earlier in June at Worldwide Developers Conference that the next Mac OS X Mountain Lion will be released in July. With only 10 days left in the month, Mac users are anticipating the announcement. According to 9to5Mac, July 25 may be the day.
Apple is planning on overnights for Tuesday, according to a “few whispers” to 9to5Mac. The company is expected to announce its Q3 2012 earning on Tuesday, followed by the OS launch the next day. In 2011, Apple announced the Q3 earning on July 19 and released OS X Lion on the 20th.
Of course, the overnight could just be a coincidence, but the Wednesday release is the best bet considering the days left in July.
The upgrade, which is available for download at Apple Stores, will be $19.99. Some people who purchased a new Mac after June 11 from Apple or authorized retailers may be eligible for free upgrade to Mountain Lion.
