A "Supergirl" trailer was released, Friday, by DC Entertainment, which featured a villain. "Supergirl" is known to be a fresh CBS series which reportedly topped the chart ratings on social media in the context of fan anticipation and engagement.
So, this one-minute-and-two-second-video was pretty much like the previous clip, where Kara Zor-El or Kara Danvers, played by "Glee" alum Melissa Benoist, revealed her powers to a friend and saved a crashing plane.
The clip also showed the head of the secret agency Hank Henshaw, played by David Harewood, enlisting her to save the world from extra-terrestrial beings.
The only difference is this footage unveiled the villain Vartox.
Comparing the comics and CBS' series, A.V. Club reported that the new Vartox was more conventional. He had a shaved head and an aggressive sharp crest.
Since "Supergirl" was announced, many were eager to know more deets. In line with this, ListenFirst Media conducted a research, according to Comic Book.
Based on ListenFirst's Digital Audience Rating System, results revealed that "Supergirl" acquired 15.5 million engagements on social media, such as Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, Wikipedia and YouTube since it was unveiled by CBS, while Fox's "Scream Queens," another new comer in the primetime, got 14.3 million.
It's worth noting that this type of rating is not being used by the network to determine whether or not the show will continue. Despite the good ratings "Surpergirl" received over social media, it wouldn't matter if the viewers suddenly decide to switch channels.
The season premiere of CBS' new show will be a bit of a challenge, since it will be up against "Gotham" in the same time slot. Another thing that will add up to the challenge is that Fox's show will premiere on Sept. 21, which is more than a month ahead CBS'.
Cast Ben McKenzie, who's playing Jim Gordon, was reportedly asked during "Gotham's" panel at Wizard World Chicago about the impending rivalry of the two shows. He simply said that there are no bad feelings, and hopes that "Supergirl" will do well.
"Supergirl" will have a special premiere on Oct. 26 at 8:30 p.m. before it goes back to its regular time slot in November.
The other characters in the series are Cat Grant, played by Calista Flockhart and James Olsen, played by Mehcad Brooks — who, according to Fox Sports, is a huge fan of Spurs' Tony Parker.
