'The Originals' Season 3 Cast And Plot UPDATE: 'Veronica Mars' Actor Jason Dohring Joins 'The Vampire Diaries' Spinoff

The Mikaelsons are back in full force in Season 3 of "The Originals." Are you itching for another cast and plot update? If yes, then read on below.

The stars of "The Originals" Season 3 answered fans question during San Diego's Comic-Con last July as per their Facebook page. Joseph Morgan, Leah Pipes, Danielle Campbell, Yusuf Gatewood, Daniel Gillies, Charles Michael Davis and Phoebe Tonkin took turns in asking questions submitted by fans as to what they will expect when Season 3 returns.

A fan asked what will be the brothers status after their fallout in the finale of Season 2 where Klaus sacrificed Gia, Elijah's current flame and also because of what happened to Hayley and her pack. Morgan answered a short but explosive answer. He said, the brothers state would be "shattered." Cami's feelings for Klaus was also queried and Pipes said that in "The Originals" Season 3, her character would be "setting boundaries or trying to" as her feelings for Klaus was uncovered in the last season.

Aside from the casts' dishing out juicy details about the coming season, International Business Times reported, the brains behind "The Originals," Julie Plec, was also giddy with excitement about the addition of "Veronica Mars" actor Jason Dohring in the latest season of "The Vampire Diaries" spinoff.

Plec revealed to The Hollywood Reporter, "You know what's so funny: I love ["Veronica Mars" executive producers] Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero, but I never watched "Veronica Mars." I only knew Jason Dohring because ["Vampire Diaries" executive producer] Kevin [Williamson] loved him so much on [the CBS drama] "Moonlight." And then I realized, he's Logan that everyone talks about from 'Veronica Mars." I feel like I'm very lucky to have the person that so many people fell in love with in the past decade."

"He does have quite a lot of interaction with Cami (Leah Pipes) and Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood)," continued the showrunner.

Would Cami possibly enter into a relationship with the new guy in town instead of Klaus?

Plec's answer, "As of right now, he's very firmly focused on getting the job done," and added teasingly, "But of course [that's as of] episode 4; you just never know."

According to Fanbolt, Dohring's character is human and is a detective. Plec divulged, "It's a nice breath of fresh air. There is a crime that happens in the first episode, and he comes in to investigate it. He's working closely with some of our characters. The question is, how much does he know or not know about what's going on in the supernatural world? And what's going to happen to him as a result of digging too deep?"

Catch "The Originals" Season 3 on CW on October 8.
