Darryl Dawkins, who had reportedly amassed a net worth value of $5 million, has died at the age of 58. In his 15-year NBA career, Dawkins was most noted for his days with the league's Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Nets.

On Thursday morning, a spokesman for the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest confirmed that legendary NBA big man Darryl Dawkins, whose net worth is listed as $ million by The Richest, has died at 11:19 in the morning.  According to New York Daily News, no cause of death has been announced but the coroner's office reported that an autopsy will be performed on Friday.

Due to his outstanding basketball skills, Darryl Dawkins, who had earned a multimillion net worth, became one of the few to go straight to the NBA right after high school. He averaged double figures in scoring nine times and often ranked among the league leaders in field-goal percentage. Furthermore, he had made it to the NBA Finals three times as a Philadelphia 76ers member in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Known for his remarkable dunks and flamboyant play, Darryl Dawkins was a 15-season NBA star who was nicknamed as "Chocolate Thunder" by music artist Stevie Wonder. He played for four teams including 7 seasons with the 76ers, where he made some buzz after shattering the glass backboards with his powerful dunks twice, Reuters noted.

Dawkins was also named as "The Chocolate-Thunder-Flying, Robinzine-Crying, Teeth-Shaking, Glass-Breaking, Rump-Roasting, Bun-Toasting, Wham-Bam, Glass-Breaker-I-Am-Jam." He also gave himself other assorted nicknames, with the most memorable including "Sir Slam" and "Dr. Dunkenstein." He also claimed to be an alien from the planet "Lovetron," Chron reported.

Following his NBA career, Darryl Dawkins was hired as the head coach of the American Basketball Association's Newark Express and Pennsylvania ValleyDawgs of the United States Basketball League, New York Post revealed.

When off the court, Darryl Dawkins further increased his net worth by writing his autobiography titled "Chocolate Thunder: The Uncensored Life and Times of Darryl Dawkins", which was co-authored with Charley Rosen. The book depicted his on and off-the-court life as an NBA star, as per Celebrity Net Worth. Unfortunately, Dawkins died on Aug. 27, 2015 at the age of 58.
