Sorry Idris Elba! It's not because of your color, it's just that "James Bond" author Anthony Horowitz does not think you make the perfect cut to succeeding Daniel Craig's turn to play the popular and influential agent.
USA Today's Entertain This! has learned that though many have been saying that Elba could be the next "James Bond" titular role actor, there are also naysayers who who just don't see Idris as the perfect replacement to Craig's take on the 007 agent, according to RawStory.
"James Bond" writer Horowitz dropped a bombshell this week when he gave his opinion the possibility of Idris Elba playing the titular gentleman agent. Horowitz said that there are more actors out there who can easily outshine Elba and do a better job in playing the character. However, he insisted that his decision was not marked in any way by racial discrimination.
"Idris Elba is a terrific actor, but I can think of other black actors who would do it better. For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part," Horowitz said of the actor before adding: It's not a colour issue. I think he is probably a bit too 'street' for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah."
Consequence of Sound has learned that Horowitz is writing the next "Bond" film after "Spectre," which is entitled "Trigger Mortis."
It's exciting to note that Horowitz isn't the only one who thinks Elba is "no fit" for the role. The former actor in the franchise, Roger Moore, has also given his honest opinion on the issue. And like Horowitz, he also thinks Elba is not the perfect actor to succeed him and all the other previous actors who took on the role.
"I think [Bond] should be 'English-English," before adding that the idea of Idris playing sound interesting although it's unrealistic.
"James Bond - Spectre" is set to hit theaters on Nov. 6
