‘Aquaman’ Star Jason Momoa Announced As Lead In New Action Movie 'Braven'

"Aquaman" is happening and it's the on its way to the big screen. The water-based superhero of course, will be played by Jason Momoa of "Game of Thrones."

As reported by TV Cheat Sheet, DC has been having a hard time popularizing the hero, which is funny since "Aquaman" has been here so long. He was even a member of the original Justice League.

But fans can now rejoice as the decade-long slump is over. With Momoa as cast, expect an "Aquaman" like never seen before — an "Aquaman" fit for the modern times.

Momoa sure does look the part. With his tough-guy screen history and warrior physique, fans can't wait for "Aquaman's" stand-alone movie.

In addition, it's also interesting to note Jason Momoa's Hawaiian heritage, making him perfect for the role, as they have an affinity to oceans. As we all remember, the original Aquaman was white and blonde, but with this, it's a great addition to the diversity of DC's Cinematic Universe.

Fans looking to get their Jason Momoa fix can also check out the upcoming action-thriller, "Braven."

According to Comingsoon.net, the Highland Film Group announced that the "Aquaman" star is cast as the lead role in Lin Oeding's film, "Braven."

Based on an original story by Mike Nilon and written by Thomas Pa'a Sibbett, the film shows Joe Braven (Momoa), a logger residing along the U.S/Canada border, confronting a group of deadly drug runners in his secluded cabin. Now, he must do everything that he can to protect the people he loves the most.

Sounds pretty exciting which just further adds to the bad-ass film history of the new "Aquaman."

The Highland Film Group will be handling the international sales as they plan to introduce the project to foreign buyers, the Celebrity Cafe has learned.

DC's "Aquaman" is slated for a July 27, 2018 release.
