Johnny Depp Flashes Bling At Venice Film Festival; 'Black Mass' Star 'Killed His Dogs And Ate Them?'

Johnny Depp made headlines earlier after cracking a joke about his dogs.

According to The Guardian, Depp was speaking to a journalist at the press conference of his new film, "Black Mass."

Making a reference to an incident in Australia earlier this year, Depp told the press that he "killed his dogs and ate them." He then jokingly added that he was acting "under direct orders from some kind of sweaty big-gutted man from Australia," a reference to Aussie minister, Barnaby Joyce.

But kidding aside, Depp is currently receiving praises for his new crime/gangster-movie, "Black Mass." A film based on the Boston crime boss James "Whitey" Bulger, which is played by Depp.

As reported by Vanity Fair, Depp was interested in meeting the real life Bulger, in an attempt to study him for his performance. But unfortunately, the aging mob boss respectfully declined.

Depp said about the attempted meet-up, "I asked to meet James Bulger through his attorney, Jay Carney," he told the press. "And — as expected — I knew this wouldn't happen, Bulger respectfully declined because I don't believe he was a great fan of the book Black Mass. I also don't believe he was a great fan of any of the books written about him."

But all is well according to the "Black Mass" actor as Bulger's lawyer was more than accommodating to help him portray the mobster correctly.

In other news, Johnny Depp and his wife, Amber Heard, made a once-in-a-blue moon appearance together on the red carpet, Entertain This has reported.

What makes this more interesting is the husband and wife team rocked a lot of "bling" in their appearance at the Venice Film Festival.

Rocking an assortment of rings, bracelets, earrings and even gold teeth, it seems that Depp, is still not over his gangster portrayal.

Catch the movie "Black Mass" as it premieres in the United States on September 18, 2015.
