A Glimpse Into James Blake’s Net Worth Amid Faulty NYPD Arrest; Retired Tennis Pro Champ Claims Forceful Assault Involves Race Factor

James Blake, a retired tennis pro champ who has amassed an $8 million net worth, is currently making headlines after he was mistakenly arrested by the NYPD cops. But what was more disturbing was how the 35-year-old athlete was forcefully manhandled outside a Manhattan hotel.

An African-American retired professional tennis player with a multi-million net worth value, James Blake recounted the NYPD double-fault incident and revealed that he was about to attend the U.S. Open events for Time Warner Cable on Wednesday when a group of five white plainclothes cops slammed him to a sidewalk and handcuffed him outside the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York. According to New York Daily News, Blake suffered a left elbow cut and left leg bruises as the cops held him for 15 minutes.

"It's hard to believe this can still be happening," Blake said. "It was definitely scary and definitely crazy."

Blake, who was quite hesitant to publicly open up about the faulty arrest, decided to tell his story to shed some light that police assault is indeed a reality and many other victims have suffered the same experiences, Daily Mail noted. He also claimed that a "race factor" might probably involve during the mix up.

"I don't know if it's as simple as that," the world's number four tennis player said. "To me it's as simple as an unnecessary police force, no matter what my race is. In my mind, there's probably a race factor involved, but no matter what there's no reason for anybody to do that to anybody."

James Blake, the Harvard-educated athlete with an $8 million net worth as The Richest listed, said that he would want to hear an apology from the NYPD and the officers involved who had mistaken him for a suspect in a fraudulent credit card operation should be sanctioned.

"I have resources to get to the bottom of this. I have a voice," Blake said. "But what about someone who doesn't have those resources and doesn't have a voice? The real problem is that I was tackled for no reason and that happens to a lot of people who don't have a media outlet to voice that to."

Meanwhile, on Wednesday night, Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said NYPD's internal affairs is currently conducting an open investigation on James Blake's mistaken arrest, The New York Times reported.

"The nature of what he described is not what we do, not what we're supposed to do," Bratton stated. "I will not tolerate any type of excessive use of force on the part of my police, but as always, we have that saying, the first story is never the last story."

Early Thursday, one officer involved was placed on modified duty after the video footage of the incident was viewed by the Internal Affairs investigators. In other news, James Blake, whose net worth is $8 million as listed by Celebrity Net Worth, will be running the New York City Marathon on Nov. 1 to raise money for cancer research.
