Who would have thought that the vampire novel "Twilight," which made Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson famous, is celebrating its 10th anniversary soon? With the "Twilight" short films announced early this year and the upcoming re-release of the book with exclusive bonus content, Twihards definitely have the reason to celebrate.
Back in February, "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer selected six screenplays, which will be transformed into short films for "The Storytellers: New Voices of Twilight Saga." The screenplays came after Meyer challenged fans to write new stories based on the back stories of her characters found in "The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide." The "Twilight" short films were released on the movie's official Facebook page.
Now, as Twihards commemorate the 10th anniversary of the "Twilight Saga" novels, International Business Times revealed that the vampire novel will re-release a special edition of the book with exclusive bonus content. The new edition will also bring Stephenie Meyer back into the limelight.
"It's amazing to me that 10 years have passed since Twilight was first published," Meyer said, as per E! News. "For me, this anniversary is a celebration of the fans, with all of their incredible passion and dedication. I'm excited to get to spend time with them again."
As mentioned above, the re-release edition of "Twilight" will contain a bonus content, which publisher Little, Brown Books has yet to reveal what exactly is included in the book to mark the novel's milestone. But the publisher's EVP Megan Tingley hinted that the special anniversary edition will offer an "extraordinary 'Twilight' experience."
"I felt the same thrill reading this special anniversary edition as I did when I read the manuscript a decade ago," Tingley said. "I'm pleased we have this opportunity for devoted fans to relive the extraordinary Twilight experience, as well as for a new generation of readers to discover it for the very first time."
As for the "Twilight" short films, which included "The Groundskeeper," "Sunrise," "Consumed," "The Mary Alice Brandon File," "We've Met Before" and "Turncoats," Twihards can go to Tongal for the entire scripts of the films.
Meanwhile, the special edition of the "Twilight" novels will hit the shelves on Oct. 6, a day after its 10-year anniversary. The "Twilight" short films, on the other hand, have already been released on Facebook and Tongal.
