‘Sleepy Hollow’ Season 3: 3 Things Fans Should Know Ahead Of Supernatural Series’ Fall Premiere

"Sleepy Hollow" Season 3's premiere is the alarm clock all sleepyheads out there. The fans of the show have long waited for the supernatural series to return to the small screen, and this fall will be the answer to their prayers. Below are three things fans should know ahead of the show's pilot episode.

1. The changed Ichabod Crane and Abbie Mills

Sleepyheads — fans of "Sleepy Hollow" — will be introduced to the new Ichabod and Abbie when the series premieres next month. Season 3 is not picking up where the show's sophomore run left off. This time jump will then show the new looks of the witnesses and maybe their changed selves as well.

Ichabod spent some time in England while Abbie's busy with her FBI agent in the months leading to the time jump, so it would be interesting to know how this two will reunite. TVOverMind reported that in "Sleepy Hollow" Season 3 episode 1, fans will see the two lead characters rocking new looks and reuniting over a new case that can only be solved with their help.

2. The absence of Captain Frank Irving

Unfortunately, fans already saw the last of Captain Irving in the previous season since actor Orlando Jones, who plays the character, has already ditched the show for undisclosed reasons. CinemaBlend noted that Jones has already exited the series ahead of its third run on the fall TV roster and Fox has not commented at all regarding the actor's exit.

Captain Irving went through a lot in Season 2 after he was killed off in the winter finale and shortly revived only to live on the side of evil. Interestingly, Orlando's exit comes in the wake of showrunner Mark Goffman's departure from the show. "Sleepy Hollow" Season 3 is now going to be managed by new showrunner Clifton Campbell.

3. The return of familiar faces

For "Sleepy Hollow" Season 3, a couple of actors have been tapped to be series regulars, and they comprise Nikki Reed, Shannyn Sossamon and Zach Appelman. Lance Grass, who joined the show in late July, is also part of the new season's cast although he is only going to play a recurring role.

Gross reportedly plays Abbie's new boss Daniel Reynolds who is known for his tenacity in the bureau. On the other hand, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Appleman's Joe Corbin will have a special role in Crane and Abbie's new mission.

Speaking of the two actors, Campbell said, "Lance and Zach are both very talented and welcome additions to our 'Sleepy' cast. There are rich stories to be told with these characters and we believe that fans will embrace these new -- and quite mysterious -- developments in the 'Sleepy Hollow' world."

As for Reed, she is playing Betsy Ross, while Sossamon is portraying mysterious woman Pandora.

"Sleepy Hollow" Season 3 is premiering on Oct. 1. Don't miss it when it returns. Tune in on Fox at 9 p.m. EDT this fall season.
