The Hollywood Reporter has learned that things may be looking great for the town of South Park, but things are looking bleak for Kenny and his family. It can be noted that Kenny's family is known for being the poorest in town, so what is about to happen to South Park will take a toll on Kenny's entire family.
This Wednesday, South Park is in the process of redevelopment or, as what Tech Times called it, gentrification. The town officials will announce that South Park will undergo a facelift by renewing and rebuilding the area to cater to the influx of affluent people while displacing its less-fortunate residents.
Since Kenny McCormick's family is the poorest, the redevelopment of South Park is taking a toll on them in episode 3. The McCormicks will try to negotiate things with the town officials, but they will not get the response they are after.
Given their financial situation, nine-year-old Kenny will be pressured to get a job at City Wok. At one point, Randy will rub it in to Kenny's father, Stuart, how difficult their situation. On South Park's website, the official synopsis of the episode reads: "As the town is gentrifying around him, Kenny attempts to climb out of the cycle of poverty by taking a job at City Wok."
