2016 BMW M4 GTS Specs, Price & Review: The Fastest BMW At The Nurburgring

The 2016 BMW M4 GTS is about to enter a very limited production period but it's already garnering countless praise.

As reported by Drive, there are rumors that just 700 2016 BMW M4 GTS will be produced and car enthusiasts are already lining up for BMW's newest masterpiece.

Inside the new BMW M4 GTS is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder twin turbocharged engine that has a reported output of 493 break horsepower.

Car And Driver reported that the latest coupe from BMW can go 0 to 60 MPH in just 3.7 seconds, almost a second faster than the standard M4, that has a reported stat of 0 to 60 MPH in 3.9 seconds. And according to Auto Express, it's the fastest BMW car at the Nurburgring.

In addition, the M4 GTS utilizes a new engine cooling technology, in which the engine features an aluminum block unit that uses a new power enhancing water injection process. The process involves injecting a fine spray of water into the engine which lowers its operating temperatures. The same technology is also being readied to be included on more mainstream engines of BMW.

The lowering of temperature helps reduce the knock threshold, allowing the 2016 BMW M4 GTS to provide higher turbocharger boost pressure compared to the standard BMW M4.

In addition, the M4 GTS boasts lightweight technology with the usual aluminum front hood being replaced with a carbon-fiber unit. Apart from that, the rear seats are also removed with the center consoles and door panels are made lighter than ever before.

However, the 2016 BMW M4 GTS will only come with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as the standard six-speed manual transmission, will not be offered.

As reported, the M4 GTS serves as the crowning glory of BMW's M-Car segment. Although official pricing has yet to be announced, there are speculations that the car will cost £121,770 or $186,463 in the United Kingdom — more than twice the price of a standard M4 Coupe.
