“America’s Next Top Model” Cycle 22 is now on its tenth week, and episode 10 appears to be that episode wherein Tyra Banks and the models head to the other side of the world to engage in a different environment and immerse in a different culture while still maintaining the primary goal of the modelling competition.
This week, the show is heading to Las Vegas where the models are to blend in with the crowd and offer a show that's fit for the Sin City. However, instead of making the models and fans all riled up for "ANTM" Cycle 22 episode 10, things are not looking as great as everyone would expect them to be.
In case you are still out of the loop, "ANTM" has already moved to the Friday night lineup of The CW where it airs back-to-back with returning period drama "Reign" Season 3. And ahead of its new episode, the show dropped a couple of teasers on its official Facebook page. Instead of getting good feedback from fans on the different place the models are visiting for this week's challenge and photoshoot, it appears a lot of avid show followers are disappointed with the location being part of the United States and not somewhere far like what the previous seasons did.
"Honestly I think going to Vegas is lame compared to going to China, Rome, Hawaii, Thailand, Amsterdam. I hope they go somewhere else!!!" Kierren Matthews wrote on the show's Facebook page.
Another fan named Isaiah Williams commented: "Budget has been getting cut due to less ratings. The grand prize is smaller and house is smaller too."
Lesly Liew chimed in: "That why you can see that most of the contestants face aren't show any happiness when Tyra announced the destination. Like 'What? Vegas?'"
Then, there's show fan Jordan Keene who really grabbed the opportunity to give his two cents on "ANTM" episode 10. He wrote: "I'm sorry but I think it's complete B.S. that the 'abroad' location is now Vegas. I'm interested to see what fashion there is in Vegas. Has top model lost funding as of recent? It's such a disappointment to see the show focused less on modeling and extreme photoshoots, to now blase shoots in a studio with a different backdrop."
He added: "I don't know, maybe the creative director needs to be re inspired because as a long time viewer of ANTM I am left feeling passionless, especially from the directing. And the focus on all the sexual tension in the house rather than the modeling. This is not "America's Next Top F-k-Buddy", to quote lady Jade herself."
"America's Next Top Model" Cycle 22's ratings continue to drop each week. Last week's change in schedule may have also been a major bump in the show as it only gathered 1.06 million viewers from the 18-49 demo, as per TV Series Finale.
The premiere only had 1.15 viewers glued to their TV screens and the succeeding weeks proved to be a little positive as a couple more viewers were watching show, which may have strayed from its usual modelling-centric focus and instead gave more attention to the in-house drama and fights among the model hopefuls. The highest rating it got so far was for episode 6 "The Girl Who Gets Possessed" with 1.4 million viewers tuning in on the episode that got Ava out of the competition.
Meanwhile, fans will get to see who will go home between Devin and Justin tonight after last week's cliffhanger. Both models did not do well during the go-see challenge, but BuddyTV claims that Devin has the better chance of staying since he delivered a good photo unlike Justin's disappointing shoot. Could Mame's lover be the one to get axed at the start of this week's show?
The official synopsis for "ANTM" Cycle 22 Episode 10 "The Girl Who Became Bootyful," according to International Business Times, reads: "The models shoot a music video for Tyra's new beauty line and former contestant Don Benjamin makes an appearance. At the photoshoot, the guys and girls have to pose mid-air."
