‘Death Note’: Logan Lerman & 4 Other Actors Who Could Play L Opposite Nat Wolff’s Light

Hollywood's "Death Note" live-action movie is currently in the works. After revealing that Cara Delevingne's "Paper Towns" costar Nat Wolff has been cast to play Light, many fans of the anime/manga are speculating on who is playing L. Here are five actors who could possibly nail portraying the role.

1. Logan Lerman

If there's one young actor who could pull this character off, it could be 23-year-old Logan Lerman. His initials even tease that he could be a good fit for the genius L. You know him as the protagonist of the "Percy Jackson" films and the vulnerable teen in "The Perks of Being a Wallflower."

Lerman has proven his talent in acting with his extensive credits for someone his age. It would definitely be interesting to see the Bobby McCallister actor in "Jack & Bobby" play the "Death Note" antagonist.

2. Liam Aiken

Another actor who could nail the role is 25-year-old Liam Aiken. The Klaus Baudelaire actor In "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events" is all-grown up but he is still in the age bracket and the looks that's passable for the complicated character. His credentials for the past five years are mostly in TV series and short films, but he is set to star in three movies starting this year: "Cleveland," "The Honor Farm" and "Like Lambs," as per his IMDb profile

3. Skandar Keynes

We've seen this young actor grow in "The Chronicles of Narnia" franchise as Edmund Pevensie, perhaps it's time for this 24-year-old to take on a more challenging role by playing the bizarre antagonist to Nat Wolff's Yagami Light.

4. Jamie Campbell Bower

The 26-year-old actor is obviously fond of playing diverse and distinct characters based off of his film credentials. Jamie Campbell Bower gave life to Anthony in "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street."

He also did a great job in portraying young Gellert Grindelwald in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part 1." Apart from playing King Arthur in the "Camelot" TV series, Bower has also done a terrific job in playing Caius in the "Twilight" franchise. Given all of these, it would be very easy for Jamie Campbell Bower to effectively deliver the insomniac detective.

5. Joseph Gordon-Levitt

If the age bracket would not be a key determinant in casting for L, 34-year-old Joseph Gordon-Levitt would definitely offer a good take on the fictional character. You fell in love with him when he played Tom in "(500) Days of Summer," and he also proved his acting talent by working on diverse projects like  "Inception," "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," "The Dark Knight Rises" and "Looper," among others.

The American adaptation of the hit manga/anime still does not have a fixed date of release, but it's good to know that it already has a director on board. In April, IGN learned that the "Death Note" live-action remake would possibly be helmed by Adam Wingard.

"Fantastic Four" reboot script writer Jeremy Slater was tapped to create the screenplay for the Hollywood remake. Again, the release date of the upcoming movie has not been disclosed yet, so fans should keep a close look for updates and whatnot about the film.
