NBA News, Rumors & Updates: New Orleans Pelicans REVEALS Plans To Improve Their Game + 5 Things You Need To Know About The Team

The New Orleans Pelicans revealed its plans on how the team can improve their overall game.

And according to a report by CBS sports, it's all about improving defense and keeping it simple. With the team pressured to build on last season's relative success, the Pelicans strive to further improve its standings during the season and have a deeper playoff run.

In a report by The Times-Picayune, the team is fresh from giving the Chicago Bulls a clean beat down, winning the game 123-115. New Orleans is now poised for success and here are the things you should know why.

1. Anthony Davis Factor

As reported by Bleacher Report, the 2012 NBA Draft Number 1 pick continues his rise in the league dominating every basketball statistics possible. Leading the league in player efficiency last season, Davis isn't just an MVP candidate, he's actually the favorite to win the award.

2. NEW Key Additional Players

Alonzo Gee, Kendrick Perkins, Corey Webster, Chris Douglas-Roberts, Jeff Adrien, Sean Kilpatrick and Bryce Dejean-Jones are the newest additions to this year's New Orleans Pelicans.

All of them are quality role players that can either make or break the game.

3. The Ryan Anderson X-Factor

Ryan Anderson is an underrated NBA player. If hardcore NBA fans are following his career, he was part of the best Orlando Magic lineup in recent memory.

However, due to missing 81 games over the past two seasons, people are forgetting that he is just 27 years old and still in his physical prime.

With now in a terrific shape, expect Anderson to contribute the best way he can: Attacking the basket with drive and cuts from the wings.

4. Eric Gordon Is Still On The Team

Although not quite at his prime, he is still a top-notch player that can take the load off of Anthony Davis' back.

Gordon, although he's not anymore the dynamic scorer and play maker who can convert shots everywhere, he still is a deadly spot up shooter.

5. New Head Coach

With new head coach Alvin Gentry at the helm, expect this season's version of the Pelicans to have a more fluid and smoother offense. In addition, veteran assistant coach Darren Erman is also on the team to coach about defense.

All in all, the New Orleans Pelicans will definitely have a better season compared last year; however, with the ever competitive Western Conference, a deep playoff run is still a bit blurry.
