2016 Ford Focus RS Is Better Than The Best: Boasts 350 Horsepower, New Stall Recovery Feature

The 2016 Ford Focus RS is clearly not done with its mission to be better than the best. In the latest update of Ford's beloved sports hatchback, the 2016 Focus RS just got a little bit of "oomph" as it now has 350 units of horsepower.

As reported by Mashable, when Ford unveiled its latest Focus RS at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, it already presented an impressive 315 units of horsepower. But it seems the American car company is not yet satisfied as it tweaked the car's turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, and, now, engineers have certified it to produce an added 35 horsepower.

In a related report by Car and Driver, the 2016 Ford Focus RS also has 350 pounds-feet of torque to boot. The torque, which arrive at 3200 RPM, is reached during the turbo's overboost function, which it can maintain for a good 15 to 20 seconds.

According to Ford, the 2016 Focus RS' twin-scroll turbocharger is tuned to deliver a maximum of 23.2 PSI of boost with the horsepower peaking at 6000 RPM.

As usual, the Ford Focus RS comes in a manual transmission but this time, it's idiot-proof. As noted by Jalopnik, the car comes with a "Stall Recovery" feature that will help remedy the problem when you accidentally stall the engine as you depress the clutch.

Everyone experiences it, even the pros! So there's no shame in admitting that, when using a car with a manual gearbox, there's a chance that we'll stall the engine. Luckily, Ford has found a solution to remedy that so you can continue to look cool as you shift smoothly like in the movies.

Basically it goes like this. When you stall the engine, instead of putting the gear into neutral and then depressing the clutch, Ford's "Stall Recovery" feature nixes that, thereby letting you simply stay in gear and depress the clutch after stalling then you are on your way.
