Ian Somerhalder Regrets Letting Nina Dobrev Go? Former ‘Vampire Diaries’ Actress Debuts New Image For Better Career Change

Did Ian Somerhalder regret letting Nina Dobrev go? The former "Vampire Diaries" actor's ex-girlfriend is currently having a major career change, free of him and their hit TV series' connection. Recently, Dobrev has debuted her revamped look on the cover of Who What Wear magazine and opened up about her new career goals.

During the interview, Nina Dobrev seemed to have hinted that she wanted to have a better career change sans ex-beau Ian Somerhalder and CW's "The Vampire Diaries." According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, the 26-year-old Bulgarian-Canadian actress preferred to ditch her "TVD" and Somerhalder connection after her name has always been dragged to the never-ending love triangle between her, Somerhalder and his wife, Nikki Reed.

While Nina Dobrev has been trying her best efforts to revamp her image, free of "TVD" fame, and is madly in love with boyfriend Austin Stowell, Ian Somerhalder is reportedly unhappy with his rushed married life. As previously reported, the 36-year-old actor is struggling in his married life and is in the middle of divorce plans with his wife.

Moreover, Somerhalder allegedly faces constant fights because of his desire to have kids while Reed holds off pregnancy plans due to her career. And since his wife has landed the role of Betsy Ross on "Sleepy Hollow," she is now more focused on her career.

Aside from his marital struggles, Ian Somerhalder has opened up about his character in "The Vampire Diaries" after Nina Dobrev's exit. Movie News Guide noted that he confirmed his survival sans his female counterpart.

"All I can say about that is that they were great characters separate, they were great characters together, and they remain great characters separated," Somerhalder told E! News.

Nina Dobrev, on the other hand, is being particular about jumping unto a new project after her 6-year "TVD" stint. She also revealed that she would love to work with actors and directors who will challenge and scare "the s—t out of her."

"There's been a lot of offers, but I don't need to work right away," Dobrev said, as per International Business Times. "I'd rather wait for something really good-to be excited about a role, or a director, or a project. I want to do something dark and gritty. I want to work with directors that I admire and that will make me better and actors that will challenge me and scare the s—t out of me."

Even though it appears that Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder have already moved on from each other, a recent report claimed that Somerhalder was just using his love for Dobrev and Elena to promote "TVD" Season 7.
