Women Products Are More Expensive Than Men's, Study Says

New study reveals that women pay more than men. The Department of Consumer Affairs of New York City has conducted a research and found that women spend more money than men in buying similar products.

After comparing 800 different products, the agency discovered that women products are more expensive than men products. Among the products included in the survey are children and adult clothing, accessories, personal and health care products along with toys.

Women consumers pay 4 percent more on children's clothing, 7 percent more on toys and accessories, 8 percent more on health care products, and 13 percent more on personal care products.

The said study reveals that though men and women pay equal amounts for similar products 40 percent of the time, women still pay more 42 percent of the instance. In the study, the aforementioned agency cited some examples to prove that women products are really more costly.

Pink Radio Flyer scooter for women costs $49.99 while the red Radio Flyer scooter only costs $24.99. The said products perform the same function and have the same features. The only difference between the two are their colors.

Schick razor blades for men and women also have price discrepancy. Women pay $18.49 while men only pay $14.99 for the same product. After conducting thorough analysis, DCA has concluded that women pay 7 percent more than men.

"DCA found, on average, that women pay approximately 7 percent more than men for similar products. Products' price differences based on gender are largely inescapable for female consumers simply due to the product offerings available in the market," the agency stated.

However, there are still other products in which men pay more than women. In terms of car purchases and car insurance, women pay less. Since men are basically car lovers, they tend to invest more on popular cars.
